Really enjoyed the trip down to the Lemmon and feel that my analysis was pretty spot on in terms of "why now". Great day to not be at AZSB. Snow coverage was good enough to carefully venture into the woods.

Snow quality was thick and pushing towards corny. Reminded me a lot of Tahoe's Sierra cement. PXL_20230219_210253634.jpg

Nice! I've wondered about the Lemmon, I've only been up there in the summer time on my motorcycle but that's a fun ride in and of itself.

I could potentially ski Wednesday at Sunrise but this storm sounds pretty nasty it might not be a good day to go. Otherwise I'll be able to make it up on Sunday.

Where? Looking at Opensnow, the winds at Snowbowl on Wednesday, Thursday and possibly even Friday are going to be so high that both GCE and Agassiz will likely be closed. Lots of snow, but possibly no ability to enjoy it ...

Snow forecasted every day for the next week. Be positive bro, the lifts will turn when they can!

Weather forecast @ Snowbowl for Wed, 2/22 looks dismal as far as winds are concerned. My Ski Bro & I rescheduled for Thursday & Friday, hoping to catch some freshies without TOO much wind interference. Look for the bright yellow Spyder jacket.. topped by a big grin! Got a new pair of Stormrider 95's to play on, too!

Yeah, I'm skeptical about hitting Sunrise Wednesday but there's no way I can get up Thursday. I'll probably be up there if it's open and hope it doesn't snow and blow so hard during the day the 273 ends up drifted over like last week and we can't leave!

Spending a decade at Alyeska has me used to the part where you ski in the storm, that's usually pretty fun.

I have no problem skiing in the storms too if the lifts are open. I may chance Snowbowl tomorrow. It looks like power is out up there right now, both webcams are down.

Was awakened at 4AM by the sound of patio furniture crashing about outside my bedroom window. :geek:

I-17 is closed this morning between the Sedona Exit & Flagstaff. Storming in Phoenix, blizzard conditions in Prescott Valley! Glad I rescheduled my trip!

Whelp, Owners of the business I manage in Pinetop are really cool, helps it's family I suppose.

Whenever Sunrise does open again I'm hanging a "Gone Skiing, Opening at 2:00PM today" type sign on my door!

I don't have a lot of experience in this town but the way this is blowing combined with the amount of work it took them to clear the road out last week I'm skeptical they'll actually be able to open tomorrow.

I wonder how the wind effects Sunrise, I kind really really enjoy it when it's wind effected in a compressed way so you stay way on top railing turns because it's so carvable but yet soft when you land hits. It's like nature groomed the whole mountain!

Funny stickers being passed around by locals. There’s another one that says Arizona Snowbowl, come on up so we can let you down.

These aren’t mine or my personal feelings but they are kind of funny.

I skied Snowbowl today and it was incredible. Nice light pow all afternoon and minimal people. It was filling in good when I left at 4.

I never cry about the Gondi being closed. It’s super wind affected at the top and people don’t understand that. It really doesn’t give you all that much terrain unless you are hiking the bowl. As long as GCX is running I can always have a good day and they run it during 98% of storm days.

I'm past complaining about it, I don't care anymore. If I really want something more I can skin up just outside the rope line along upper ridge. But I have to disagree with you Core on the terrain. The best powder skiing pitch is off the top from Liftline down to Casino and all the way across and over to White Lightning. It's the steepest and longest pitch on the mountain.

I really wish that the summit chair went from just above Turkey Gully and up to the summit. A 1550 vertical foot fixed grip quad like the Humphreys chair would have been perfect.

The Humphreys chair could have started where the Agassiz lift does and always had. The Humphreys trails could have been designed to filter into lower bowl side creating a better division between pods and skiing abilities. The GCX and Humphreys chair would both give access to the upper mountain chair and relieve crowding at the base. We all wouldn't have to ski that damn run out every run, that gets old but I'll admit, has gotten much better with the South America trees getting thinned, at least when the snow is good on that aspect.

But they love that summer sky ride, blah!

2:30 PM today on Lower Volcano. I was running my 118s all afternoon full on surfing this stuff. If you can get up tomorrow morning, go! Upper mountain has been untouched for two days, pretty sure a riot will happen if they don’t run the gondi tomorrow. C44F2BC8-B287-4E88-8695-8419FE52BEA4.jpeg

I’ve got a wicked nasty cold right now so I’m probably not going to make it. I swear the last 4 years this happens to me every season during the best or one of the best storms. I’m stoked for you and everyone else tho! Get ya sum!
