End of the ski season, most likely. Days 65 and 66. Yes, I skied my age this year.

Saturday was sunny and slushy up at Timberline. Scott (son), Archer, Hunter (grandsons), and I enjoyed the upper Magic Mile lift for most of the day. We were above the clouds and light rain/mist that was below us.

Sunday I was solo skiing "dust on crust". Actually it was more than just dust -- about 2" of new wet slow snow on top of a very firm and bumpy near-ice base. Every turn was a surprise of either grab/slow on the news snow or slip/speed on the underlying ice. I quit early to clear out the condo of all my gear, wash, wipe, vacuum, etc... It was snowing for a couple of hours 1st thing in the morning.

So 66 days of skiing this season (my age), 42 at Timberline, 9 at Meadows, and 15 at Skibowl. There were actually more at Skibowl because several times I would start at Meadows or Timberline and end up night skiing at Skibowl too. It was a great season with lots of fresh snow, good family to ski with, and very reasonable at $10.90 a day average due to "old guy" discounted season passes. 2.87 days per week on average.

Winter/Spring "season" ends May 29. Summer skiing goes to August 20 (both dates from https://www.timberlinelodge.com/mountain/season-passes). I believe they often have private camps still in September, but not sure.

We're usually off the hill by the time any Thunderheads have formed. I'm very observant when it comes to that type of weather conditions.

I was just a few feet from unloading Palmer on Monday when the lift suddenly stopped. I heard someone on a radio say, “whoops my bad, I was working on the lightning detection.” Not sure what that meant. They got the lift spinning quickly.

Closing weekend at Crystal Mountain, they lost a ton of snow since last weekend. They did the best they could to push some snow around so you at least had room to get off and away from the chairlift, but unfortunately you couldn't get to any skiing without some walking. At the start of the day you could do the traverse on the snorting elk side and keep your skis on, but even that got chewed up and melted out pretty quickly. At least it was far less crowded than last weekend. That's a wrap on the season for me.

Snowpack is getting marginal. Hit a rock on Summit/bachelor. Staying cooler which is good. The Suncups were taxing. Almost unpleasant when firm.
