I mean the whole thing is just sad, tragic, and a waste.

Some new details already from openings.
Screams and shots recorded on some door device nearby.

————
Armstrong was allegedly able to track Wilson's location because Wilson had not turned on a safety feature on a fitness app. Jones said the evidence will show Armstrong looked Wilson up multiple times on the popular cycling app Strava, CBS affiliate KEYE-TV reported.

Armstrong apparently turned down a plea deal for 15 years before trial.
From Court tv notes on prosecutor’s opening:

  • Austin Police got a search warrant for Kaitlin and Colin’s house and found 2 9mm pistols. One of those guns was later determined to be the firearm that killed Mo.

  • Police learned that on the night of the murder, Kaitlin turned her phone off at 7:30 p.m., and turned it back on from home at 9:55 p.m.
  • On the night of the murder, according to GPS data, Kaitlin’s Jeep circled the area of Caitlin Cash’s apartment for at least an hour prior to the 9:15 p.m. Ring Camera recording of the gunshots.
  • GPS data put Kaitlin’s Jeep a few yards from the scene of the crime – the vehicle was parked from 8:40 pm-9:17 pm.

  • [This is all of the notes on defense:]

  • Geoffrey Puryear delivers the Defense open:
    • We are here because of the State’s opinion of the case.
    • I will talk about what you did not hear. You will not hear about camera video showing Kaitlin at the scene because there isn’t any.
    • Kaitlin is not responsible for this crime.
    • Austin Police told Kaitlin she was free to go.
    • Kaitlin was passionate about traveling and yoga.
    • This was the detective’s first homicide case.
    • Ballistics is not an actual science – can’t be relied upon.
    • We trust that you will come to a just verdict…and we trust that it’s a verdict of not guilty.

It's just sad all round for the senseless stupid waste.

Although you do have to wonder at the cops not detaining her unless they originally had Strickland in the frame. Note the defence don't seem to be throwing shade in that direction.

She doesn't strike me as the kind of person who a) will accept losing and b) considers a plea deal not losing. She will ride her days out in prison continuing to believe she got jobbed until the day she dies.

Y’all know she escaped custody for a brief period last month? They’ve added thst to the charges.

Apparently she planned this for months, doing “vigorous excercise” in jail. Had dental floss and a pin for the handcuffs, wore thermals under the prison garb so she vould take them off and blend in. She avoided being put in leg restraints by having a leg injury, and she was being taken to the doctor’s office in town. It’s a little unclear how far she ran, but she tried to scale a 6 ft wall, was grabbed, then ran again.

I knew she did but didn't know the details.
She's a tricky one.

She seems like a delusional narcissist who thinks she can outsmart everyone else.. and literally get away with murder.. It's not working out well for her so far..

Yeah, she should’ve taken the plea deal.

Apparently the landlord of the apartment of the shooting was in the garage at the time getting stoned. He didn’t hear shots, but heard someone running down the stairs, then go by the garage on a bike.

When cops first visited Strickland and Armstrong’s place the day after, she had her passport and currency laid out on a table.

Would she even be in jail 20 years ago without technology to trace her location? Say just without the gps which is sort of funny since she turned her phone off. It’s like she wanted to be caught or was just really angry and/or didn’t pay much attention to detail or just a very dumb person. The weird thing is she was so dumb that she kept the gun and drove around the block with gps on but there is nothing at the crime scene. What about the bike in the woods? So a very dumb person doesn’t leave any fingerprints or dna?

I would say she was very angry. Driving around the apartment for an hour didn’t cool her off.

The bike found thrown nearby had Armstrong’s DNA on it.
The gps comes from the car, not the phone. I don’t think you can turn it off, at least not easily like a phone. It’s amazing what cars record these days, including door openings.

The Defense is going to argue the ballistics on the gun is not science. They’re going to to say there’s no direct evidence.

Based on what’s out so far, I’d be surprised if the jury took more than 4 hrs for guilty on this. And only that long because it’s serious.

I think most folks watch tv and think they know police protocols and crime scenes. Actually pulling something off is probably a lot more difficult. Lots of things to get right. Turning off her phone is obvious. She may not have even understood there was a GPS tracker in the vehicle. If she ditches the gun she's automatically a suspect because she didn't report it missing.

We don't have all the story. Let the jury do their work. That's what I usually think. And it's Texas.

I guess the yoga didn’t help.

In the “you can’t make this stuff up” dept, apparently the landlord was smoking a bong in the garage. So much for high tech vaporizing.

The defense alluded in the opening to Armstrong being passionate about yoga and traveling. Will they call herto the stand to explain selling her car, using her sister’s passport and going to Costa Rica?

What if she was able to ditch the gun and claimed she had given it back to Strickland a week before the murder happened? Then it's her word against his right?
